Light Weight Deflectometer – ZORN ZFG Number 10,000 Auctioned

Nov 30, 2018 | Compaction Control

The base plate of ZFG Nr. 10,000 has been hallmarked today at Zorn Instruments. Otmar Mewes, a ZORN team member for more than 30 years, carefully hit the hammer on the number stamp this morning. He had already marked ZFG number “1” many years ago, for the first series of Light Weight Deflectometer.

Back then, no one was thinking to take a photo. But today the cameras were ready.

Where will the money raised at auction go? ZORN INSTRUMENTS will donate the entire proceeds to Hochschule Magdeburg-Stendal. This renowned German University for Applied Sciences will use the money to finance a scholarship in the field of construction engineering.

The anniversary ZFG will be presented to the auction winner in Magdeburg on 13 December 2018. Dr. Reiner Haseloff, Chief Minister of the federal state Saxony-Anhalt, will join the event as an honorary guest.

FH is now routinely using the LWD with very good feedback and useful engineering data. The equipment is an easy to use Zorn LWD.

After scouring the market, we settled on the PANDA DCP test equipment as it offered the technical capability and, moreover, the flexibility required to work in the restricted environment our project presented; overhead clearance typically at 1500mm but as low as 1200mm.  We had a unique problem that required a unique solution and that’s precisely what we found through the team at Insitutek and the PANDA equipment.  The ease of assembly, intuitive operability and compact nature of the equipment, made light of the numerous soundings we required across a widely dispersed area.
