Light Weight Deflectometer helps build Australia’s first Surf Park – Civiltest
Insitu Test is proud to have been involved in an innovative project breaking new ground; building Australia’s recently opened first surf park in Melbourne. Civiltest provided Geotechnical advice and testing for the projects main earthworks contractor, Ertech, and the developers of the URBNSURF park, whilst Insitu Test provided the Light Weight Deflectometer to assess compaction at various different areas around the site.
Located near Melbourne Airport, URBNSURF parks provides perfect, ocean-like waves in an authentic, safe and controlled environment, catering to all ages and abilities.
URBNSURF’s vision for this modern project is to “create natural, honest and inclusive surfing environments where memorable experiences are created, and where our guests and staff have fun, get stoked, keep fit and feel part of a community that shares their passion and respect for surfing, the ocean, others and our planet.” Being Australia’s first man-made surf park, the development sits on 7.1 hectares where one thousand waves are be pumped out each hour using renewable energy sources. Treated stormwater from the area is used to replenish the park’s lagoon. Book a surfing session!
That was really useful and informative yesterday – started a lot of discussion around here.
We purchased a PANDA 2 machine after using one from another laboratory. The information obtained has saved money on numerous jobs. It is reasonably priced and the after-market service has been great. Highly recommend using Insitutek.
I felt the training was very thorough. If anyone doesn’t know how to use a PANDA after that session, they shouldn’t be using one at all.
