Mini CPT Crawler

Overview

  • Mini CPT Crawler allows doorway access (width 780mm) and low headroom (height 1730mm)
  • 100 kN pushing force with a low ground pressure of 32kPa
  • Demountable CPT unit, ideal for confined spaces
  • Easy to use, move (including crane lifting) and transport (in a small van)
  • Pivoting hydraulically operated anchoring system
  • Variety in useful options

The Mini CPT Crawler consists of a basic set of Cone Penetration Test (CPT) equipment which is mounted on a small and compact undercarriage with rubber Anti Vibration Tracks (AVT). The HYSON 100 kN-LW pusher from A.P. van den Berg is suitable for making cone tests up to about 30 meters (depending on the soil conditions and reaction force).

Two soil anchors are used to gain the required reaction force and a hydraulic anchoring device is used for setting the anchors.

Due to the compact design and low weight the crawler is very suitable for confined spaces and is easy to transport.

The hydraulic levelling legs provide stability and keep the tracks free from excessive loads during rod extraction.

The pusher is demountable and can be used as a stand-alone unit next to the crawler, for example when a CPT in a basement or close to a wall is required. This can be important e.g. inside buildings.

Even though the crawler is compact, there is still enough space for storage of cones, rods, friction reducers and wrenches. The laptop and data logger are stored in a weather protected cabinet.

Options include:

  • Remote control for operating the crawler from a safe distance
  • Hydraulic track widening system to go from track width 780 to 1160mm for additional stability during driving
  • Front leveling widening to give maximum stability during CPT pushing mode
  • Electrical power pack, to reduce noise and exhaust fumes
